Vintage Bus Trip to Rye On Saturday, 12th June, 27 members and friends of Lynsted Branch took to the road for a trip to Rye in Sussex, via Tenterden. The difference being we were travelling on a vintage 1948 Leyland Titan double decker bus. The bus is owned and has been fully restored by David from . It originally operated in and around Todmorden in Lancashire and travelled over 800,000 miles while in service.
After a gentle drive through the beautiful countryside taking in Sutton Valence, Headcorn and Biddenden, our first stop was at Tenterden where we had an hour to look around the shops and grab a coffee. Pressing on, down through Wittersham, into Sussex and on to Rye, the view from the top deck reminded us all how stunning our countryside is, especially at this time of the year. The weather stayed fine for us and everybody enjoyed a few hours exploring the historic cobbled streets of Rye, no doubt taking in a nice restaurant before joining the bus again for the leisurely trip back home.
